Situated on the bank of Mystic River, Assembly Square is a vibrant community with a thriving restaurant scene. With a brand new neighborhood and outdoor shopping mall, Assembly Square is quickly becoming a hotspot in Somerville. The new Orange Line subway stop services the square.

 

One of the biggest attractions in the town is Assembly Row, a flourishing row of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues for people to shop, play, dine, and work. Once little more than a field, the row has been transformed into a bustling area that remains busy day and night all year-round.

 

If you’re visiting the row and decide you're interested in seeing a movie, AMC Theaters Assembly Row 12 is a luxury venue with IMAX screens and a giraffe sculpture for the neighboring LEGOLAND outdoors, making it easily identifiable.

 

Have dinner at the upscale Legal on the Mystic, a seafood restaurant with both traditional and contemporary appeal. It emphasizes dining with friends so you can share your meals, including pizzas, sandwiches, tacos, and more.

 

It’s notable for its industrial design, featuring concrete, brick, and steel. Legal also has a spacious expo kitchen and a gorgeous bar, along with open-air seating. Make sure you try their award-winning clam chowder.

 

In the evening, the River Bar is a lively spot located in the heart of Assembly Row. It’s known for its tasty street food, cocktails, and craft brews. River Bar is also perfect for brunch.

 

If you decide to visit early in the day, try a mimosa alongside a special River Bar Breakfast, which includes eggs, Taylor pork roll, leeks, Brillat Savarin cheese, and an English skillet muffin.

 

Lucky Strike Social is an excellent place to visit with friends and family. Not only is it a fun place to go bowling, but it also offers chef-made food and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

 

It's a massive venue spanning over 35,000 square feet and two different floors. They also host private events in an area on the second story. Aside from bowling and delicious food, Lucky Strike Social also has several games, floor shuffleboard, and a bar.

 

For outdoor activities, the Mystic River Reservation is a great place to take part in pursuits such as cycling and sailing.

 

Somerville’s Assembly Row hosts an annual competition called Bar Stars where guests vote for the best drinks from seven different restaurants on the row.
